The Duke
Add to my map

The Duke is situated in Dublin 2 just off Grafton street, making it a great stop for a meal or a pint of Guinness. For lunch, they offer several entrees, served carvery-style. The prices are reasonable and the helpings are large. The atmosphere is great, like a typical Irish pub. TVs on the walls show football matches, and it becomes a gathering place for fans to cheer for their favorite team.

It takes its name from the 2nd Duke of Grafton and has been providing liquid refreshment since 1822 to such literary greats as Brendan Behan, Patrick Kavanagh, Oliver St. Jojn Gogarty and even the mighty James Joyce. The literary tradition continues as the nightly starting point for the Dublin Literary Pub Crawl. Rightly so as the pub has a rich and intriguing history well worth a visit of discovery.
